Step-by-step working
  1. Each block of units is charged at its slab rate; energy charge = $1,950.00
  2. Add fixed charge $120.00 and 8% duty/tax $165.60 = $2,235.60

Tariffs, subsidies and fuel adjustment charges vary by provider and change over time; check your latest bill or your regulator’s tariff order for exact rates.

101 – 200100$6.00$600.00
201 – above120$7.50$900.00

How to use the Electricity Bill Estimator

  1. Enter the units from your meter reading or bill.
  2. Choose a flat rate or enter slabs. Leave the last slab’s limit blank.
  3. Add fixed charges and the tax percentage.
  4. Press Calculate.

Formula

Bill = energy charge + fixed charge + (energy + fixed) × tax%.

With slabs, units are filled into each block in order: e.g. the first 100 units at the first rate, the next 100 at the second, and so on.

Don’t know your units? Units (kWh) = watts × hours per day × days ÷ 1,000. A 1,500 W heater for 4 hours a day for 30 days uses 180 kWh.

Examples

  • 320 units with slabs 0–100 @ 4.5, 101–200 @ 6, above @ 7.5: 450 + 600 + 900 = 1,950; + 120 fixed + 8% = 2,235.60.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my average cost per unit higher than the rate?

Fixed charges and taxes are spread over your units, and higher slabs cost more, so the average rises with use.
