Total cost of being paid
$3.98
Step-by-step working
  1. PayPal fee = $100.00 × 3.49% + $0.49 = $3.98
  2. You receive = $100.00 − $3.98 = $96.02

Pre-filled rates are from PayPal merchant fees (US), checked on 27 October 2026. Fees vary by category, country, plan and over time, so enter your own rates if they differ. Results are estimates. The conversion spread is built into PayPal’s exchange rate, so its cost here is an estimate. Fixed fees are in US dollars; other currencies have their own fixed fee.

How to use the PayPal Fee Calculator

  1. Choose whether you know the payment amount or the amount you want to receive.
  2. Pick the payment type; the rate and fixed fee fill in automatically.
  3. Tick international or currency conversion if they apply, then press Calculate.

Formula

PayPal fee = payment × (rate + international fee) + fixed fee

You receive = payment − PayPal fee − currency conversion cost

Amount to ask for = (amount you want ÷ (1 − conversion spread) + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate − international fee)

Examples

  • $100 through PayPal Checkout at 3.49% + $0.49: fee $3.98, you receive $96.02.
