How to use the Rounding Calculator
- Enter the number.
- Choose decimal places, significant figures or a multiple.
- Pick a rounding rule (half up is what most schools teach) and press Calculate.
Formula
Divide by the rounding unit, round to a whole number using the chosen rule, then multiply back. Half to even (banker’s rounding) sends exact halves to the nearest even digit, so 2.5 → 2 and 3.5 → 4, which avoids an upward bias over many values.
Examples
- 1,234.5678 to 2 dp = 1,234.57.
- 0.004567 to 2 sf = 0.0046.
- ₹47.38 to the nearest 0.05 = 47.40.
