With a third-party provider, enter that provider’s rate in the card processing fields. Fixed fees are in US dollars.

How to use the Shopify Profit Calculator

  1. Enter the order value, shipping charged and your product and shipping costs.
  2. Choose Shopify Payments or a third-party provider and check the rates.
  3. Add ad cost per order and your monthly plan and app costs with your monthly order count.
  4. Press Calculate.

Formula

Payment fee = order total × rate + fixed fee

Third-party transaction fee = order total × Shopify’s rate for your plan (only when not using Shopify Payments)

Profit = order total − payment fee − transaction fee − product − shipping − ads − (monthly costs ÷ orders)

Examples

  • 40 order, Shopify Payments at 2.9% + 0.30, product 14, shipping 5, ads 6: payment fee 1.46, profit ≈ 13.54.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Shopify charge a fee with other payment providers?

Shopify adds a transaction fee when you use a third-party payment provider instead of Shopify Payments. The rate depends on your plan.

Are taxes included?

No. Sales tax or VAT you collect is passed on to the tax authority and is not revenue.
